Hive - thrive and survive
Flock is a casual 2D management sim for Windows PCs, in which the goal is to control and organize a social group of many individuals called flocklings. The goal is to achieve a high score by surviving for a long as possible time.
Finding the balance between ensuring the survival of the flock and keeping nature intact is an important aspect of the game, as the environment will suffer from a Flock that consumes all natural resources. In the end a dying environment will affect the Flock as well.

Post Mortem
Positives
Flock stood out with its visuals and the complex behavior of the Flocklings, which received a lot of positive feedback. The addition of score counting introduced a competitive aspect, which was popular during events like Hive:Five and the Multimedia Prize 2022.
As my first digital game in a permanent group over an extended period, I learned a lot about my work in this field and identified areas where I still need improvement and where I’m already proficient
Overall, I am very pleased with my first game, and I am glad that we took on such a challenge and produced a fun product.
What did I do
The distribution of work was chaotic initially, as we were all new to this working pipeline and had to find our way. Towards the end, we figured out a method that worked for us.
There were often difficulties with communication, especially for me, as I was unsure when it was okay to give feedback and afraid of hurting others. However, I learned that it is essential to express my opinion, as I am part of the team and my ideas can also be helpful.
We also took on too much for the first time, working with complex Flockling behavior, leading to crunch.
