Maximize Growth, Minimize Hunger

In CRUNCH, you find yourself in the surreal dream of an overworked office worker, playing as the company mascot—a dinosaur keychain. Your mission is to race through the office, devouring everything your current size allows to grow and tackle even larger objects. But be quick! The dino gets hungry if it doesn't eat, and if the hunger meter runs out, it’s game over. Reach the required size to complete the level and take the elevator to the next one.

Post Mortem

Positives

CRUNCH was a popular game at our HIVE:FIVE event. Many people enjoyed the game, its quirks, and the atmosphere we created.

I felt very welcomed into the team, and even when there were difficulties, it was always possible to talk and help each other.

The assets have a distinct aesthetic style and, when combined, create a great environment.

It was nice that the progress of the game was always well received and that we got feedback confirming we were doing a good job.


What did I do

In the beginning, I was a bit timid because the rest of the team had already worked on many other projects together. In the end, everything worked out great.

Due to time limitations, we had to cut some content, which was unfortunate because it could have elevated the gameplay significantly. However, if we hadn’t done it, the game would have been less polished, which is more important.

We put a lot of time into asset production, and because of that and our workflow, we delayed the balancing aspect of the gameplay. We fixed it, but it was a bit stressful.
